Putting It All Together

Projects... at a glance

How do you condense 18 months of learning and discovery?

Check out this "Thinglink" for the highlights.

When I was "in it" I'm not sure I realized how much I accomplished. There were so many highs (most notably right now as I finalize everything), and really not too many lows. It is amazing to try to condense a Masters of this nature into words. In an attempt to do so, here is an easy-to-follow chart of all the seemingly disparate pieces.

The Growth Mindset - Are you fixed or ready to take on the world with new ideas? In constantly revisiting these ideas, I've realized I fall in the gray area - I'm all about growth and change, but not everywhere in my life. Starting this program with some introspection sets the groundwork for what's to come.

COVA

Without COVA, there is no DLL. There is no CSLE, there is no room for growth and discovery. I'm grateful for having one word that encapsulates my learning and teaching experience.

Why? Leading Change

I ignored the fact that the program title contained the word "leading" until this course. And now, I know my "why," I have a plan, and I'm ready to be an influencer. I'm ready to have those crucial conversations.

Disruptive Innovation

I didn't just come up with an idea. I researched,  and researched, and then researched some more. Finally, I have a plan, a proposal, an outline for action, a plan for more research, and the confidence that this is worth sharing.

Significant Learning Environments

Shedding some light on who I am as a learner, helped me understand who I am as a teacher. The work done to create an SLE is crucial and hard, but so rewarding. Fink’s taxonomy and McTighe’s Understanding by Design are just the starting points.

ICT

There is a sports car in orbit, but schools are still using the factory model of pumping out students. Information and communication technology (ICT) holds some power for transforming the classroom. But let's take a look at what has and hasn't worked all over the world.

Action Research

Qualitative or quantitative?! Math was never a strong suit. But how do we know what worked if we don't look at the data? This plan implements student feedback in order to see where to go next with ePortolfio implementation.

An essential part of any classroom today. But it's not that easy. Digital citizenship covers so much. Fortunately, Mike Ribble breaks it down for educators.

Publication #goals

Write about whatever you want and try to get it published? Yes! My students have loved blogging this year, and it's my goal to get more people on board. Blogging with students today is easy, fun, and gives them a chance to be heard.

Online Learning

I've always preferred a face to face setting for a classroom. However, if done correctly, students can flourish in an online learning setting. Using the Schoology platform was a challenge, but it was an eye-opening experience to create a course and SLE.

Professional Learning

Perhaps the most important part of leading change is being able to share ideas. Developing effective professional learning will do much more than teach teachers. I'm looking forward to building my PLN within my district.

I feel I've reached the peak. But there are more mountains to climb. This journey may be over, but I'm excited to see what's next.
