Action Research

Whether it's deciding on a diet or buying a new car, we are constantly doing research. As teachers, we research best methods and practices, and reflect on our lessons daily. As change agents ready to transform our classrooms, it's time to not only research and reflect but take action. Action research, done by educators for educators, is an attempt to find answers to the myriad questions and problems facing education today. It is cyclical in nature, as most answers will simply lead to more questions.

In order to ensure the success of my innovation plan, I've developed an action research plan that will be executed during the 2018-2019 school year. After completing an outline  and literature review, I was able to focus on what needs to be done in order to assess the use of ePortfolios and develop a research plan. Stay tuned for results.

Action Research Outline

Outline

This outline highlights the first few steps of the planning stage. In order to complete successful research, it is essential to think through the key aspects of the project.

Literature Review

A literature review is meant to analyze and synthesize information about a given topic. This literature review looked at already existing research on ePortfolios in classrooms.

While the trend of the research points towards the success of ePortfolio programs, there is also an important caveat: the program is only as sound as the implementation.
